Black Cat Theatre

The Black Cat Theatre company was set up in 1985 and operates from a small village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.  Founder member Diana Bayliss   works as a solo puppeteer/performer, often in collaboration with other artists. 

The company provides puppet and shadow theatre performances, workshops, residencies and training in schools, theatres  and community venues throughout the UK. 

Both traditional and innovative puppets and performance techniques are employed.

Diana has established an excellent reputation in educational  work.   She is experienced in introducing puppet theatre to many different kinds of groups of people, from early years to the elderly and including special needs.

Diana has been fascinated by Indian culture since her first visit to India and has specialised in producing work inspired by Indian mythology.   Since 1990 she has frequently collaborated with Indian puppeteers, dancers, textile artists and musicians to create and present performances, run residencies and workshops, helping to make the culture more accessible to an English audience through storytelling, shadow theatre and puppetry.
